As an optimist, I like to believe that every cloud has a silver lining although I know that silver lining can often be hard to see or find, especially in the middle of a crisis.
The 2020 Covid-19 pandemic is clearly a global disaster and my thoughts go out to everyone affected, directly or indirectly by the virus. I’m also extremely grateful for those who are out on the front line working to keep us all safe and keep a bare minimum of services running. As someone whose main contribution has only been to stay at home and obey lockdown rules, I’m extremely grateful for those putting their health at risk.
At the start of the lockdown I had a myriad of ideas to keep busy and I tried to document these. All the extra time at home as made space for learning new things and developing interests and hobbies. It has also left time for volunteering and I have tried to make myself available to any organisation which I would be able to help.
As time has gone on though (this is week six), I have had more and more ideas for things I would like to do. A common theme is I’d love to blog about what I’ve learnt and this is something I’ve been planning to do for the last week or so.
Having spent plenty of time considering colour schemes, logos, style, intent, etc I’ve slowly realised that whilst important none of that has led to any actual content.
I follow a lot of YouTubers (who doesn’t) and a few of them have recently done motivation videos. A common theme for all of them is “just get on with it”. You might not have the perfect camera, logo, notebooks or workspace but the best thing is to just get out there and start making stuff.
So that’s why this site is here and why it’s a bit messy which I hope you’ll overlook (especially if you’re reading this in the future on the WayBack machine!)
I’m hoping in the coming days to start putting together content on my interests, probably starting with electronics and microcontrollers. The motivation is just to make content which I would have enjoyed reading when getting started with a hobby. If it’s of use to anyone else then it will have been worth the effort!
